Maartje Jaquet

A whole world is watching us but is only evident when we can erase the border between rationality and meaningless. Then the concepts as we know them, turn into the most absurd -but logical- findings. Just the simplest walk to the corner shop could transform our perception of the world; is just matter of change the sidewalk.

It takes some time to get through Maartje Jaquet's photodiary, but certainly worth every minute. Her  personal collections are full of powerful, amusing visions of the reality. The part I enjoyed the most: Unintended people, where she attributes anthropomorphic features to all kind of objects, a sort of urban nephelococcygia. Her documents take objects to other levels in the same way Cezanne says, "Art must make nature eternal in our imagination."

Would you be able to look the world in the same monotonous way after contemplate her works?

Maartje Jaquet is a Dutch photographer and artist that works in Amsterdam. Es curator of the project the oneminutes.
